The main direction of institute activity is the development of plant breeding technologies, which are based on the patented inventions, and creation on their basis of highly productive cultivars (varieties and hybrids).

As a result of scientific activity was the creation of the following hybrids:

- sugar beet: „AVATAR”, „Avtorytetnyi”, „RAMGRAN” (districted in Russia);

- sunflower: „Ukrainskyi F1” „Ukrainskyi skorostyglyi” „Ukrainske sonechko”;

- spring rape: „Dobrobut”, „VNIS-100”;

- winter wheat: „Artemida”;

- winter triticale: „Alkid”;

- tomatoes: „Lasunchik”, „Krasunchik”;

- forage beet: „Adra”;

- eggplants: „Lilovyi ranok”;

- soybean: „Sviatkova”.
