The Most Promising Sunflower Hybrids for the 2023 Season: VNIS Experts Named Three Leaders

Every year, our company provides a wide range of hybrids to Ukrainian farmers, helping them maximize the potential of their fields. 

For the 2023 growing  season, we would like to highlight our most promising hybrids:

Shenon stands out at the top of our list. 

This hybrid is resistant to herbicides containing tribenuron-methyl and features unique resistance to diseases, drought, and new races of broomrape. Shenon consistently delivers high yields and exhibits excellent heading characteristics. It also shows strong resistance to downy mildew.

2022 harvest results in commercial crops:

  •  Cherkasy region, Zvenyhorod district - 30 c/ha
  •  Kyiv region, Zguriv district - 30 c/ha
  •  Vinnytsia region, Bershad district - 32 c/ha
  •  Kirovograd region, Gayvoronsky district - 32 c/ha
  •  Cherkasy region, Zhashkiv district - 32 c/ha

In the second place is Laim.

It is a well-known hybrid for classical technology that shows stable results despite this year's unfavorable conditions.

Laim is a super-yielding and stable sunflower hybrid with a growing season of 100 days. It provides record yields within its maturity group and is resistant to new races of sunflower broomrape A-G+.  Additionally, it is drought-resistant and highly adaptable to various growing conditions, producing good results even with extensive cultivation technology. Laim also demonstrates high resistance to rust and downy mildew and benefits from increased potassium and phosphorus fertilizers.

  • Poltava region, Myrhorod district - 40 c/ha
  • Rivne region, Mlyniv district - 35 c/ha
  • Cherkasy region, Zolotonosha district - 30 c/ha
  • Kirovograd region, Bobrynets district - 32 c/ha
  • Kyiv region, Kagarlytsky district - 28 c/ha

Taking the third spot is Karlos 105, a high-yielding intensive hybrid. It is resistant to imidazolinones and boasts good growth energy and high yield potential. This hybrid is known for its high adaptability, environmental plasticity, and stability.
