Partnership between VNIS and USNA

The Ukrainian scientific institute of plant breeding (VNIS) is an active member of the Ukrainian Seed Breeding Association (USNA), which brings together breeders and seed producers to introduce innovative hybrids, unify quality standards, and jointly lobby for legislative initiatives.

What does the Ukrainian Breeding and Seed Association (USNA) do?

The Ukrainian Breeding and Seed Association (USNA) is a specialized industry association designed to protect the rights of breeders and seed producers, promote scientific achievements, and introduce modern agricultural technologies. USNA brings together professionals to establish rules for a civilized seed market, promote innovation, and increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian seed material both domestically and internationally. The Association's mission is to unite efforts for the sustainable growth of the industry and food security of the state. To achieve this mission, the Association organizes conferences and seminars, prepares legislative proposals, develops international cooperation, and attracts investment in breeding projects.

VNIS is a partner and active participant of USNA

The Ukrainian scientific institute of plant breeding (VNIS) has been a key partner of USNA since 2025. VNIS is a Ukrainian breeding company with its own scientific base and seed production, which has been creating high-yielding hybrids of sunflower, corn, rapeseed, and leguminous crops for over 25 years. VNIS co-founder Myroslav Pariy serves as deputy chairman of the USNA board, underscoring the institute's strategic role in shaping the Union's work.

For VNIS, the partnership means broader access to professional expertise, industry analytics, and legislative initiatives, while for USNA, it means powerful scientific support and an example of the successful commercial use of Ukrainian hybrids.

Common goals and initiatives: innovation, standards, and legislation

VNIS and USNA work in several complementary areas:

  • Development of innovative hybrids. The VNIS research base provides the Association with up-to-date breeding and testing results.
  • Unification of seed quality standards. At the working group level, USNA develops uniform certification criteria, while VNIS shares its own laboratory control protocols, helping to enhance the reputation of Ukrainian seed production.
  • Legislative initiatives. VNIS experts participate in the preparation of proposals for draft laws regulating seed circulation and the protection of plant variety rights; USNA submits the industry's agreed position to the relevant parliamentary committees.
  • International cooperation. Through USNA, the institute is involved in dialogue with European and American seed associations, exchanging data from field trials and trends in genetic crop improvement.

This set of measures not only addresses scientific and business needs, but also builds trust in Ukrainian seeds on the global market.

How to join USNA

Agricultural companies, breeding centers, and farms can apply for membership in the Ukrainian Breeding and Seed Association directly on the Union's official website. The “Join” section describes the algorithm for submitting documents and the basic criteria for membership.

Membership in the Association has its advantages:

  • Participation in the formation of state policy in the field of seed production
  • Access to up-to-date information, analytics, and expert opinions
  • Opportunity to participate in conferences, forums, and working groups
  • Professional representation of interests at the international level
  • Network of contacts in the field of breeding, agribusiness, and science
  • Joint projects, training, and professional development

VNIS's participation in USNA activities is not just a partnership status, but a strategic contribution to the future of the Ukrainian agro-industrial complex. Thanks to the combination of the scientific potential of the institute and the organizational power of the Association, the domestic seed market receives clear rules, quality standards, and global recognition.
